Let’s keep the Mon Valley moving!

Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority (MMVTA) is working on a plan called Mid Mon Moves to improve the way people get around our community by bus.

This website will function as the primary source of information for the project and will be updated on an ongoing basis through spring 2026, so check back frequently!

Better Bus Routes

MMVTA aims to shorten transit rider’s travel time, enhance the transfer experience at bus stops, and create more frequent service.

An MMVTA bus stop with a silver shelter, blue roof, a bench, and a small route map is shown with parked cars behind it.

Better Bus Stops

MMVTA aims to create higher quality bus stops with sufficient amenities to create a more comfortable, safe, and dignified experience for riders.

Better Bus Operations

MMVTA aims to explore serving new local communities while also increasing route efficiency, so the agency’s operational costs remain stable and don’t need to increase.

About MMVTA

The Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority (MMVTA) was created in 1985 to provide transit services for its 21 member municipalities and to help revitalize the Mid Mon Valley.

MMVTA currently operates ten fixed-route bus routes in four counties—Washington, Fayette, Westmoreland, and Allegheny—which are the focus of the Mid Mon Moves Systemwide Fixed Route Study.

Five routes (Local 1-5) operate local service for the 21 member municipalities; four commuter routes (Commuter A, Commuter Express 1, Commuter Express 2, Cal Commuter) serve Downtown Pittsburgh; and one route (Vulcan Flyer Shuttle) is a partnership with Penn West California University to primarily provide transit to campus for university students.
